Photography Tips for Best Results

Lighting is Key

Natural light produces the best results. Take photos near a window or outdoors during the golden hour (early morning or late afternoon). Avoid harsh shadows and direct flash, which can wash out details and create unflattering shadows.

Get on Their Level

Crouch down or sit on the floor to capture your pet at eye level. This perspective creates a more engaging and natural portrait that better captures their personality and expression.

Focus on the Eyes

The eyes are the window to the soul—make sure they're sharp and in focus. Clear, bright eyes with visible detail will make for a much more compelling portrait. If your pet has different colored eyes, try to capture both clearly.

Capture Their Personality

The best portraits show your pet's unique character. Whether they're playful, regal, or goofy, try to capture that essence. Multiple photos from different angles help me understand their features and personality better.

Details Matter

  • High resolution photos (at least 1-2MB) allow me to see fine details like fur texture and markings
  • Clear, unobstructed views of the face—avoid photos where paws, toys, or other objects cover features
  • Good contrast between your pet and the background helps define their shape
  • If your pet has unique markings, patterns, or features, make sure they're clearly visible

What to Avoid

  • Blurry or out-of-focus images
  • Photos taken from too far away (I need to see details!)
  • Heavy filters or over-editing that changes natural colors
  • Photos where the pet is looking away or has their eyes closed
  • Extreme angles or distortion from wide-angle lenses

Multiple Photos Help

While one great photo can work, submitting 2-3 photos from different angles gives me a better understanding of your pet's features, proportions, and unique characteristics. This is especially helpful for capturing accurate fur patterns, markings, and facial structure.
